The first day of the Water Diplomacy-related course entitled “A Theory-Practice Synthesis for Actionable Outcomes"
" was launched today under the patronage of the regional head of the
Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, Ms. Caroline Tissot. The
workshop, organized by the Water Diplomacy Center - Jordan University of
Science and Technology in cooperation with Tufts University in the
United States, is being held at the Marriott Amman Hotel with local,
regional and international participation. The workshop will last for
four days and will be presented by experts and specialists in the field
of water.
The Director of the Water Diplomacy Center opened the
launching ceremony of the course by welcoming guests from the Swiss
Agency for Development and Cooperation, lecturers and participants from
the countries participating in the Blue Peace Initiative. He also spoke
about the importance of holding such workshops that contribute to
achieving the vision and mission of the Water Diplomacy Center to be a
regional center for transboundary water management and water diplomacy.
In
her welcome speech, Mrs Tissot affirmed the continuation of Swiss
support for the Blue Peace Initiative, praising the role of the Water
Diplomacy Center in achieving the objectives of this initiative and the
importance of the topics covered by the course, which shed light on the
importance of regional cooperation in the field of water in general, and
transboundary water in particular.
This workshop comes after the
success of the previous workshops held by the Water Diplomacy Center
within the activities of the Blue Peace Project to develop capacities
supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation. The
workshop targets researchers and engineers working in the water and
agriculture sectors, as well as diplomats from the ministries of foreign
affairs of the partner countries in the Blue Peace Initiative, which
includes Iran, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Turkiye, and Jordan. Thirty
participants from these countries and neighboring countries are
participating in this workshop, including six participants in the Youth
Fellowship Program of the Blue Peace Initiative in the Middle East.
