Water Diplomacy Center Fellowship
29 Jan 2025
The Water Diplomacy Center (WDC) at Jordan University of Science and Technology is thrilled to announce the selection of 15 outstanding graduate students as WDC Fellows for 2024. This achievement follows two successful calls for applications, made possible through the generous support of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).
The WDC Fellowship program provides funding to Master's and PhD students conducting research on water diplomacy and related challenges within the MENA region. The selected fellows investigated a diverse range of topics, including Transboundary Water Management, International Water Governance, Interdisciplinary Analysis of Water Regulations and Policies, Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystem (WEFE) Nexus
The first call resulted in the selection of 7 Fellows, representing Jordan (3), Iran (3), and Sudan (1). The second call welcomed 8 scholars from diverse backgrounds, including Jordan (2), Türkiye (2), Lebanon (1), Egypt (1), Iran (1), and Syria (1). Their research will contribute significantly to our understanding of critical water challenges and inform more sustainable and equitable water management practices in the MENA region.
The WDC Fellowship provides substantial support to each Fellow, including research funding, advisor incentives, and support for journal publication. This investment in young scholars will empower them to make significant contributions to the field of water diplomacy and address the pressing water challenges facing the region.
