The Water Diplomacy Center (WDC) at Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) concluded the Second Water-Peace Dialogue Series, held in Jordan from 29 June to 2 July 2026 under the theme “Regional Waters and Climate Resilience: Leveraging Cooperation for Disaster Risk Reduction."

Organized under the Blue Peace Middle Capacity Development Project, with the support of the Government of Switzerland and in collaboration with the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI), the Dialogue brought together 19 senior officials, experts, and practitioners from Blue Peace Middle East countries, representing a wide range of institutions, including ministries of water, foreign affairs, energy, environment, agriculture, and national crisis management agencies, as well as regional organizations and specialized water institutions.

The Water-Peace Dialogue Series serves as a regional platform to strengthen dialogue and cooperation on water across the Middle East and promote cooperation as a long-term pathway to building resilience. Building on the outcomes of the first meeting held in Istanbul in December 2025, this year's dialogue focused on water-related disaster risk management and explored practical opportunities for regional cooperation in addressing shared climate and water challenges.

Over four days, participants exchanged experiences and discussed areas for collaboration, including early warning systems, drought and flood management, climate adaptation, and resilience-building measures. The Dialogue also contributed to developing a shared regional vision on water-related disaster risk reduction and climate resilience, which will help inform regional cooperation efforts and discussions at the 2026 UN Water Conference.

The Water Diplomacy Center reaffirmed its commitment to advancing regional dialogue and cooperation, recognizing water as a catalyst for peace, resilience, and sustainable development across the Middle East.
