Regional Meeting Discusses Climate Finance Readiness and Water Security Programme for the Levant and Iraq
In conjunction with the Second Water-Peace Dialogue Series, the Water Diplomacy Center at Jordan University of Science and Technology held a meeting with Mr. Paul Opio and Eng. Fadi Masarweh, and Eng. Maysoon Al Zoubi, from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) to discuss the Climate Adaptation Readiness Programme for the Levant and Iraq, an initiative aimed at strengthening climate finance readiness, institutional capacities, and investment preparation to enhance water security and resilience across Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, Palestine, and Syria.
The meeting brought together representatives from Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, and Iraq to discuss opportunities for strengthening regional cooperation and developing joint investment pathways in climate adaptation and water security. Participants also emphasized the importance of knowledge exchange and the development of regional coordination mechanisms that support access to climate finance and strengthen water governance, contributing to more resilient water systems and sustainable development across the region.
