Cross-Border Cooperation in Action: Field Mission to the Hawizeh/Al-Azim Marsh
Under "The Cooperative Assessment and Management of the Al-Hawizeh/Al-Azim Marsh (CAMAAM)" project, a collaborative team of experts from the Water Diplomacy Center (Jordan), the Queen Rania Al Abdullah Center for Environmental Science and Technology (Jordan), the Geneva Water Hub, a Centre of Competence on Water for Peace (Switzerland), the University of Thi Qar (Iraq), and Tarbiat Modares University (Iran) conducted a field visit to the Hawizeh marsh. The visit aimed to gather initial data, identify challenges, and engage with local communities. The team emphasized the importance of a comprehensive study to assess the current state of the marsh and develop effective revitalization plans, highlighting the need for collaborative efforts to preserve this unique natural and cultural heritage.
