Jordan University of Science and Technology, University of Geneva, and Geneva Graduate Institute Sign MoU to Advance Water Diplomacy Cooperation
Jordan University of Science and Technology JUST, represented by the
Water Diplomacy Center, the University of Geneva, and the Geneva
Graduate Institute, represented by the Geneva Water Hub, have signed a
Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing collaboration in
water diplomacy.
On behalf of JUST President Prof. Khaled
El-Salem, Vice President Prof. Ahmad Al-Ajlouni signed the agreement
alongside Dr. Natasha Carmi, Director of Water and Peace Projects at the
Geneva Graduate Institute.
This partnership seeks to
promote joint research and training initiatives in water diplomacy and
transboundary water management, in line with the mission of the Water
Diplomacy Center (WDC) at JUST. The agreement supports the WDC’s vision
as a regional hub for advancing water diplomacy and fostering
collaboration on shared water resources.
The signing is a
key milestone in the "Blue Peace Middle East Capacity Development"
project, which is supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and
Cooperation (SDC) and focuses on building the capacity of the WDC.
Among
the attendees were Professor Mutwakil Obeidat, Director of the Water
Diplomacy Center, Eng. Mufleh Al-Alawin, Regional Cooperation Advisor in
the Water Sector at the Swiss Embassy in Jordan, and Eng. Aseel
Al-Mukhaimer, Director of the Blue Peace Coordination Office.
The
Geneva Water Hub, established by the Swiss government and the
University of Geneva, specializes in water diplomacy, conflict
prevention, and capacity-building through education and research.
