About the Webinar:

This webinar is part of the Blue Peace Middle East Capacity Development Project, funded by the Swiss Government. It presents a hydrological assessment of the Al-Hawizeh/Al-Adhim transboundary marsh system from 2009 to 2025. It examines the ecological and hydraulic impacts following the construction of the 6-meter-high border dyke in 2009.

The session will explore remote sensing approaches using Landsat 7 and 8 imagery, SWIR2 dynamic thresholding, multi-component water-balance modeling, evaporation and precipitation dynamics, and empirical performance metrics for evaluating environmental restoration scenarios.

About the Speaker:
Prof. Muheeb Awawdeh is a Professor of Geoinformatics at Yarmouk University and a Water Diplomacy Center Associate. His research focuses on applying spatial technologies to assess natural resources and geo-hazards, including groundwater, soil, floods, landslides, and earthquakes. He has extensive experience in national and international research projects and has published widely in his field.
