Water Diplomacy Center Successfully Concludes First Training of Trainers (ToT) Program
Amman, Jordan – December 19, 2024:
The
Water Diplomacy Center (WDC) at Jordan University of Science and
Technology (JUST) has successfully concluded its first Training of
Trainers (ToT), held from December 17-19, 2024, at the Sheraton Al
Nabeel in Amman. The event brought together 18 professional
participants, including WDC staff, representatives from Blue Peace
Middle East (BPME), and academics from various Jordanian universities.
The
three-day training, organized as part of the Blue Peace Middle East 2.0
Capacity Development project, was led by water diplomacy expert Dr. Ana
Elisa Cascão. The program aimed to provide participants with the
knowledge and skills necessary to deliver high-quality, impactful
training sessions on water diplomacy.
Over
the training, participants gained in-depth knowledge of water diplomacy
from multiple perspectives, including policy, legal, economic, and
institutional frameworks. This training also fostered a network of
experts, equipping them to lead future sessions and strengthening the
WDC's capacity to continue advancing water diplomacy initiatives.
Furthermore, the training created a community of practice, ensuring that
water diplomacy remains at the forefront of efforts to address the
water-related challenges in the BPME countries.
The
successful completion of this ToT program represents a major step
toward building local and regional capacity, fostering transboundary
cooperation, and providing sustainable solutions for the shared water
resources of the BPME countries.
