The Blue Peace Middle East 2.0
– Capacity Development project is a collaborative initiative between
the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and the Water
Diplomacy Center (WDC) at Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST).
The project aims to strengthen regional cooperation on transboundary
water management by building the capacity of professionals,
institutions, and stakeholders in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
Through training programs,
workshops, research, and knowledge-sharing activities, the project
enhances the skills of policymakers, water professionals, and diplomats
in water diplomacy, negotiation, and conflict resolution. It also
fosters collaboration among countries facing shared water challenges,
promoting sustainable and equitable water resource management.
The initiative is part of the broader Blue Peace Middle East program,
which seeks to transform water from a potential source of conflict into
an instrument of peace and regional stability. By equipping
stakeholders with technical expertise, policy insights, and dialogue
facilitation skills, the project contributes to long-term water security
and sustainable development in the region.
